Newfoundland Park

Trenches at Ocean Villas - the name given to the village of Auchonvilliers.

The Battle of the Somme saw not only the loss of so many lives, it also saw the end of the Pals Battalions. 

Sheffield Memorial Park - the memorials to the Pals. Men who joined up and served with their friends and those who lived around them. When they all went into battle together and suffered such heavy loses whole streets in Britain were plunged into mourning. 

Trenches at Newfoundland Park - 97 years on they appear a place of such peace and tranquility.

1st July 1916 - The Ulsters make good gains, but are forced to retreat as others do not make the same gains.

At Beaumont Hamel, the Newfoundlanders start their long walk to enemy lines.
